SHOULD YOU TAKE AN ONLINE LSAT COURSE?

Like many other aspects of our daily lives, LSAT Preparation has also gone online. In addition to one-on-one tutoring and live courses, you can now prepare for the LSAT with online-only LSAT learning platforms. Although some of these options such as virtual tutoring and live virtual courses closely mimic one-on-one or in-person tutoring, online video courses provide a different way to prepare for the test.

Available types of online video LSAT courses

Online LSAT prep providers typically offer two main types of LSAT courses, modular courses, and full access courses.

When it comes to modular courses, you pay for access to online videos and resources that address different aspects of the LSAT. Modular online LSAT courses are ideal for people who want to address specific areas of weakness, whether it’s the entire section or certain concepts & question types.

On the other hand, full courses are designed to walk test takes through everything they need to know to succeed on the LSAT. They are best for students who have difficulty identifying specific areas of weakness. Online LSAT courses are usually sold either on a subscription basis or as a one-time payment.

Advantages and disadvantages of online LSAT courses

Advantages

Flexibility and convenience

These are some of the main benefits of taking an online LSAT course. Online LSAT Prep allows you to watch videos anytime and anywhere you have reliable internet access. Therefore, you don’t need to find an LSAT course that fits your schedule or travel to attend classes. This is particularly beneficial to students who live far away from cities where they can access high quality live instruction.

Efficiency

For students who are good at certain areas of the LSAT, their time is likely wasted reviewing and learning those areas in in-person classroom settings. Modular video courses are ideal in such situations. If you have access to complete LSAT video courses, you can simply fast-forward through areas that address your strengths.

Disadvantages

Less individualized approach

The main disadvantage of online LSAT classes is a less individualized approach compared to working with working one-on-one with an instructor through the entire course. Moreover, with online LSAT courses, there is a lack of interaction with both other students and the teacher.

Although online courses are ideal for skipping areas of strength and addressing areas of weakness, they rarely provide alternative approaches specifically tailored to the student’s way of thinking.

Inability to ask questions and hear questions that other students ask

Interaction with instructors provides the benefit of being able to seek clarification from an expert who knows you. You can also benefit from simply hearing questions that other students ask and the answers/explanations they get, in addition to the accountability and structure that live LSAT course schedules offer.

Therefore, if you have a hectic schedule or tend to procrastinate, an externally imposed structure could be very valuable in ensuring that you succeed in the LAST.

If you opt for an online LSAT course, choose a single online course that includes everything you need. If you use two different courses, you might be confused by learning different approaches that may contradict each other.
